What really stood out to me was hearing about how powerful it is to learn about Jewish history right where it happened.

I am so excited to be a part of this incredible program at AMHSI. I decided to apply for the Impact Fellowship last December, when I ran into friends who had just returned home and heard their meaningful stories about the program. What really stood out to me was hearing about how powerful it is to learn about Jewish history right where it happened. At that point in the night, I knew this was an experience I needed to have. They explained the amazing leadership opportunities you have when you are a fellow to educate people in your community about Israel and to share your journey along the way. Ever since I was a little girl, I have felt a special sense of belonging when I was with my Jewish peers whether it’s at summer camp or at temple.

As a fellow, you have pre/during/post program responsibilities.  An example of a pre-trip responsibility is participating in Plant Your Way To Israel, a great fundraising opportunity where half of the money you raise goes to JNF and the other half gets set aside for your trip. When in Israel, you get to practice your writing skills by writing a weekly blog and participate in a special leadership class once a week.

Upon arriving home you get to choose 5 ways to share your experience. I am excited to speak to my peers at my high school and temple youth group. I am thrilled to travel to Israel for the first time, go on unforgettable adventures, make lifelong friends, and further develop my leadership skills. Todah Rabbah JNF and The SAMIS Foundation for giving me and the other fellows this once in a lifetime opportunity.
