I hope that when I look at it I’m always reminded to give to others and not take from them.
Today we started off at the Crusader’s castle and learned about how the crusades happened. It was interesting to see just how difficult it really is to take over the castle and to stay alive. We also had a very eye-opening talk as a class about how we as Jews are seen as crusaders and just how eerily similar we are. We were posed the question: just how much are you willing to risk for Israel? Then we learned about Jewish Mysticism, also known as Kabbalah. We learned that our jobs as Jews and human beings on this earth is to gather God’s light together by giving thanks and Tikkun Olam. We visited Yosef Karo’s temple that has been standing for 500 years. We also visited an artist who conveys themes from the Kabbalah through his art. I bought one of his paintings that really spoke to me and I hope that when I look at it I’m always reminded to give to others and not take from them.
