Thanks to the generosity of the Miller Family, high school students from Arizona have the opportunity to apply for a merit‑based scholarship at Jewish National Fund-USA's Alexander Muss High School in Israel (Muss).
Through the creation of the JNF-USA Alexander Muss High School in Israel Arizona Merit-Based Scholarship, Lori and Adam Miller hope to make the transformative experience of Muss a reality for students from Arizona. This Scholarship is available to students applying for the Muss Classic summer program.
The Miller family began the Arizona Merit-Based Scholarship to ensure extraordinary Jewish high school students from Arizona are able to travel to Israel on an immersive program, which prepares them for a lifelong relationship with Judaism and Israel.
The Arizona Merit-Based Scholarship Fund:
Students with achievements in leadership, character, and academics are welcome to apply for this additional merit-based scholarship. They must possess a deep and personal connection to their friends and family, community, and Judaism. They must exhibit emotional stability and maturity and actively participate in a variety of extracurricular activities. Displaying accomplishment and potential both in the classroom and in their community is essential. We are looking for the teens who continuously go “above and beyond” to make things happen and who seek out ways to lead even in situations where a leader is not identified. We are looking for teens who want to make Israel a part of their life for years to come.
Upon their return, merit-based scholarship recipients will be asked to:
- Collaborate with a local teen organization to put on a program that highlights something they learned in Israel
- Help promote Muss and other JNF-USA programs, serving as a liaison for potential students
- Speak at local JNF-USA events, including local board meetings.
How Does the Merit-Based Scholarship Work?
- Submit an application for the Arizona Scholarship here: amhsi.org/azscholarship.
- Apply to Alexander Muss High School in Israel here and pay the $250 registration fee.
- Complete the Muss application and admissions process. Once accepted to Muss, participate in a scheduled interview with the Arizona Merit-Based Scholarship Committee.
