The Busiest Week in Israel So Far!

This is my first time traveling to Israel, which means everything I experience at Muss is completely new to me. I hope to bring a unique perspective to what we do here.
Boy, am I lucky! I get to write about what feels like the busiest week so far. We went on multiple Tiyulim (field trips) to incredible locations, including the Old City in Jerusalem, Masada, the Dead Sea, the Bar Kochba Caves, and an ancient Roman amphitheater.
My favorite of them all has to be the Dead Sea! As a first-timer, I definitely had to buy the famous mineral-rich mud. Floating in the sea for the first time was exactly as I had imagined. What made it even better was sharing the experience with the amazing friends I’ve made over the past few weeks. We laughed, joked, and created memories that will last a lifetime. It’s incredible how quickly a program like this can turn strangers into family.
Unfortunately, we haven’t been the luckiest with the weather. I always thought Israel would be hot—especially while climbing Masada—but I quickly learned that Israeli winters can be freezing too. I never expected to be hiking up Masada in long pants, a sweater, and a jacket! But despite the unexpected cold, the breathtaking sunrise over the Dead Sea made it all worth it. Watching that view alongside my new friends is something I’ll never forget.
Back home, I come from a school and city where antisemitism is prevalent. Being here in Israel, surrounded by my people, has reminded me how much my Jewish identity means to me. I cherish who I am, and I’m so excited to continue learning about my history while being part of this incredible community.
