Fall 2024: Week 2 in Israel
This week has been both engaging and impactful for our students. They explored the history of Jewish survival during the Galut (exile) period, specifically Galut Bavel (Babylonian Exile), and had the opportunity to debate whether Jews should have returned to Israel after the exile. These discussions provided valuable insights into resilience and rebuilding, relevant to both historical and contemporary contexts.
Our students also participated in a meaningful community service project, packing food for families in need, which highlighted the importance of giving back. They enjoyed a refreshing visit to Ein Hania, a beautiful natural spring, and attended a moving ceremony at Jewish National Fund-USA and KKL-JNF’s 9/11 Living Memorial in Jerusalem, Israel. It is the only memorial site of its kind outside of the U.S. that lists the names of all the victims who perished on that infamous day. You can watch the full ceremony here.
Looking ahead, we are excited for the upcoming Shabbat in the historic city of Akko and our four-day Yam L’Yam (Sea to Sea) trip starting this Sunday, which will take us all the way from Atlit’s Neve Yam to the Kinneret. This journey promises to deepen our students’ connection to Israel’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage.
We look forward to sharing more updates as our students continue their enriching experiences here in Israel.
