At the Start of My Journey

If my ship sails from sight, it doesn’t mean my journey ends, it simply means the river bends.”  - Enoch Powell

As my journey is just beginning and my ship is getting ready to sail, a new adventure awaits me. While it’s being rigorously prepared and packed, excitement and anticipation bursts from the seams of my body. I can no longer wait to delve into my people’s history in the promised land where it took place. No more learning from a computer screen or from within a picture frame, I now begin a journey in which I learn from the grounds in which it happened. The winding river of Alexander Muss High School is just around the bend, and soon I’ll be facing every twist and turn head on.

The excitement: I’m anxiously awaiting to meet new people and grow closer with them as we set off on an adventure of a lifetime together, or explore Israel and the many beauties it has on its land, or learn of Jewish history and the many miracles as well as tragedies that it possesses, or even have some independence, as I travel across this alluring country.

The curiosity: What is Israel like since I’ve last been there? What are the people like? And most importantly what is the food like? As my ship begins to sail, the endless emotions and thoughts that revolve around my brain are too much to write down, but I can guarantee you as my ship begins to take a 7,397 mile bend, my journey is just beginning.
