While being on Muss, we have been on many amazing tiyulim. My favorite have been the Hezekiah tunnels, the day in Tzfat, the walk in the Kineret, and Masada.
In the Hezekiah tunnels, we saw the main water source for when Jerusalem was under a siege and where King David sent his soldiers. We walked in freezing cold water that was about a foot deep and at some points the water went up to our hips.
Our Tiyulim to Tzfat was my favorite. We started the day on top of the Crusader fortress with a class. While being up there, our group did many trust exercises with each other. After the class and activities, we went to an Orthodox synagogue and listened to our teacher tell us a story of the synagogue. Following this, we had free time in the Tzfat market. We later went to an Artists store and learned about when and how he figured out his true Jewish identity through the Halacha. We ended the day with fun downhill hike.
The walk through the Kinneret was similar the Hezekiah water tunnels. We walked through water that went up to our hips and at some points it went higher than that. As a group, we had a splash war in the middle of the walk. We also saw some Israeli soldiers that were training in the Kineret and we got to walk alongside them.
Masada was also one of my favorite tiyulim. We hiked up the snake path early in the morning and got to see the beautiful sunrise. We learned all of the stories leading up to the final result of the Jews on Masada having to commit suicide in order to die without being slaves or being defeated by the Romans. We had a very interactive class and got to walk in the footsteps of the Jews.
All in all, our tiyulim have been the highlight of this program. They are super impactful and help us to see the Jewish history through a different lens.
