There is so much to say about living in Israel and I want to start by saying that studying at AMHSI and living these 8-weeks in Israel has been the greatest thing I have ever done. Coming to Israel for the first time as a student requires a little bit of preparation but don’t worry, this preparation is so worth it.

The first thing you need to prepare for is sleep. This might sound silly but jet lag is real and especially since Israel’s time difference can be hard to adjust to. On the first few days, your jet lag will be challenging but don’t let it affect your attitude. I recommend coming to Israel and AMHSI very open minded. You should understand that at first you will be tired, but don’t worry it will go away super quickly, because you will be busy getting to know your new best friends and home.

The next thing that you should know is about food. Israel has a wife variety of foods to offer and my best tip is try everything. It’s very simple but don’t be afraid to try new foods. I understand that this can be hard but it pays off. The food in Israel is so unique and so good that it would be a shame to come to Israel and not try the foods that Israel has to offer. Being open-minded regarding food will bring your experiences from good to great.  As far as snacks go, my tip is to go to the store and be spontaneous. Of course, you should stick to a budget but be willing to taste new things because you won’t regret it.

Another tip is about speaking and understanding Hebrew. As a fluent Hebrew speaker, I can’t even imagine wanting to learn a language. The cool thing about Israel is that a lot of people actually speak English, just make sure you talk slow. Many people will understand if you speak English and may even be able to respond. Many signs are in English and I can promise you that you’ll start to pick up words and phrases very quickly.

I would 100% recommend coming to Israel and studying at AMHSI. Just remember to come open-minded and ready to experience life in this great country that you’ll soon call home.
