To any student who is interested in coming to Israel, the first step is to build up the nerve to come! Of course, you may be a little unsure of what you will get out of the experience, but you only live once. Get on a plane here with a good attitude. Congratulations, you have taken the biggest step. When you arrive in Ben Gurion airport and you cannot speak or read Hebrew, it is pretty simple to find immigration. Don’t be startled by the environment, it is normal. You will come to Israel exhausted, so make sure to drink plenty of water. When you get to campus be friendly with all the other students that are here, shortly they will become your best friends. Throughout the next couple of days, make sure to be open and explore the campus. When given the opportunity to go into town, go as much as you can and make sure to get some schnitzel.

At first, it will be strange to have some days that are filled with classes and other days that aren’t. Take advantage of this setup, make sure to study while hanging out with your friends. If you want to get the most out of this program, try to be in your room as little as you can. You didn’t come to Israel to stay on your bed! I promise that if I did not explore as much, my time here would not be as valuable.

Another key to this program is to work hard and make your time valuable. It is an incredible experience and studying is key to learning the most. The way to look back on all the incredible experiences is to take plenty of pictures. Whenever you are in a new place take a picture. I can now look back on many awesome moments because I carried my computer so often.

My final piece of advice is to make as many deep connections as you can. When I am done with this program, I am sure I will continue to keep in touch with the people I’ve met here and someday meet up with them again. After finishing this program, make sure to tell other kids about your time here. You will soon learn that Alexander Muss High School in Israel is an unforgettable experience, pass it on.
