As I think about my first few days on campus, butterflies swarm my stomach.

I hope that my trip is just as special as the stories I've heard that I too, will be ecstatic to share my experience with others, which is why being a fellow is important to me. Although I am nervous, I am also eager to be immersed into a new culture, meet new people and truly experience Israel for what it is.

When I received the word that I got the fellowship I literally fell out of my chair..

It is almost one week before I leave for Israel and I cannot contain my nerves. I am afraid that I am the only one who is leaping out of their skin and melting into a big mush, and that it is just me feeling this way, so let’s just pray that I am not alone.

Goal Reflection - Fall Semester 2019

Posted by Edee Polyakovsky on 01.19.20
At the beginning of this program, I had three goals for myself: to make unforgettable friendships and memories, to improve my Hebrew, and to forge a personal connection with Israel and the Jewish people.

    Pre-trip Thoughts

So this is it; the moment where everything begins to feel real. It was only a bit over a year ago when I was crying my eyes out at Ben Gurion Airport. I pledged to my mom that I would return soon enough, but never in a million years did we both think I would be returning this soon! Not to sound cheesy, but Israel seems to be my fate...

    Pre-trip Expectations

Posted by Annie Segal on 01.23.19
In two days, I am going to school in Israel at Alexander Muss High School. I am having a hard time believing that I am leaving so soon, it is almost too good to be true. I am overjoyed to have been given this opportunity for personal growth as well as for the development of my Jewish identity...

    Goals and Beginnings

Posted by Talia Krausz on 01.23.19
Week 1: It’s funny how I dreamt of having a different routine for the longest time, but when I came here, I felt completely overwhelmed. Many kids were already friends with each other and I, a stranger, began cohabiting with them instantly. All of this can be incredibly scary and unnerving. (I associate this with skydiving.) Yet there’s a part of me that can always be proud of myself for leaping into the sky when most teenagers wouldn’t dare board the plane. I’m already beginning to learn more about myself in this way...

A Student's Guide to Life in Israel Checklist

Posted by Talia Krausz on 01.23.19
One of the biggest transformations I have been through so far is becoming one with the culture. I’m not a tourist, I’m a student living here, going grocery shopping. I still have tests to think about and study for. To show other the “wisdom” (haha not really) I have acquired, I compiled a list of the best tips for living and being a student in Israel...
