Jewish Identity in Tel Aviv

This week in Tel Aviv was honestly one of my favorite days so far. We walked all over the city where Rav Kook lived, and it felt like the whole place had a crazy energy.

Everyone is just so happy in Tel Aviv. My favorite part of the day was going up to random people on the street and asking them about their identity and how they define themselves here in Tel Aviv. At first, approaching random people sounded kind of awkward, but it ended up actually being really interesting to hear how different everyone’s story was. You will be talking to one person who’s lived in Tel Aviv their whole life, with parents who moved here, and then someone else who moved here just recently. Yet, they all love this place. We finished the day at the beach watching the sunset!

What I love about this program is that the learning doesn’t feel like school; it feels real. You’re actually in the places you’ve heard about forever, while you’re learning about the subject. It makes everything way more meaningful, and I’ve learned a lot about Israel and honestly, a lot about myself too.
