As we marked Yom HaShoah together, this week was one of deep reflection, learning, and connection—giving our students meaningful opportunities to engage with history, honor memory, and strengthen their understanding of the Jewish story.

On Sunday, students spent the day in Jerusalem, touring Yad Vashem in anticipation of Yom HaShoah. Their tour was followed by deep reflection as well as a powerful visit to the Kotel and, later, wandering through the shuk.

Monday included a particularly moving Yom HaShoah ceremony, featuring a screening of Among Neighbors, which tells the remarkable story of a Muss student's great-uncle’s Holocaust experience and was followed by a special Q&A with his children. Students also shared their own families’ losses and experiences with the Shoah, creating a deeply personal and meaningful experience. Observances continued Tuesday as students stood together for Israel's national siren and participated in additional Holocaust learning.

Later in the week, students spent their days exploring the story of pre-state immigration, which included visits to Neve Yam beach, the Atlit Detention Camp, and the Carmel Forest. Their week concluded with Shabbat in Jaffa, enjoying time together in the vibrant and historic city.

Through all these experiences, our students not only learned history—they connected to it in a personal and lasting way, strengthening their sense of identity, memory, and responsibility for an enduring future.
