A Taste of Home

This week on Muss created some core memories for me. We started with a Tiyul on Thursday to Tel Azeka, where we had had a very slippery hike. Lots of my friends got mud all over them and were falling all over the place (me included). We had a yummy lunch with tons of Israeli pickles, hummus, and cold cuts that have already become like second nature to us at the bottom of the hill.

We then headed to a super cool museum where we got to see animals that were in the stories of the Torah as well as hold some live animals like bunnies, snakes, and guinea pigs.

This weekend was the first open Shabbat, so many of the kids left to visit people, but I decided to stay, which was the best decision I could’ve made. We had a Shabbat dinner with 17 other kids and watched movies on the couch all together, giving me a little taste of home.

Saturday morning, we all got a night of well-needed sleep, and then my friend June and I went on a walk all around Hod Hasharon during sign-out.

Our next adventure was to the City of David, though we had a small change of plans due to the rain. We got coffee and treats at the cafe where our hike was supposed to begin, followed by a story on the area, and then walked the tunnels the Jewish people dug thousands of years ago in order to survive during the Assyrian attacks.

Finally we ended with our first Shuk visit of the semester and a long drive back to campus with lots of naps. I can’t wait to see what next week brings.
