Follow along with our Mini-Mester group as we recount this week trekking across Israel on Yam L'Yam!

We are writing to you from high in the Galilee Mountains after an amazing week together!

On Sunday, we explored the city of Tzfat, visiting artists, ancient ruins, and learning about Kabbalah – the Jewish mystical tradition. We discovered the spiritual renaissance of Tzfat in the 16th century and how it still inspires Jewish people today.

On Monday, we started our Yam L’Yam hike (a sea-to-sea hike across Israel) with a ceremony on the beach near Nahariya. We filled a small vial with Mediterranean seawater, which have carried with us all the way to the Kinneret!

Our first day took us along the beautiful Keziv River Valley, where we walked, swam in springs, and climbed up to our peaceful campsite in the hills.

Tuesday was a big day, as we climbed Mount Meron, one of Israel’s highest peaks, and enjoyed stunning views all the way to Lebanon. Then we made our way down to camp in the Amud Valley near Tzfat

Wednesday, we swam in a natural pool and hiked along the amazing cliffs of the Amud River Valley, surrounded by the Mediterranean flora and impressive rock formations.

The best part of this trip has been the friendships and support the students have shown each other. There have been so many moments of laughter, help, and connection, and it’s clear how much the group values the community they’ve built. Our last day of the trek, we hiked the last few miles to the Kinneret, where we jumped in together and celebrated the end of our journey. Hallelujah!

Today we arrived at Pardes Hanna for Shabbat, giving everyone a chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy some well-deserved downtime after this extraordinary week!
