Israel and America

Another big difference is the food! I mean how could I let a blog go by without talking about the food. Being in Israel has been great for me food-wise because I am kosher and I almost never have to worry about finding kosher restaurants. Another difference is that in America if you were dancing on the streets with friends and singing they would look at you wrong but here they will join you. All in all, here in Israel the vibes are different. Wherever I go and whoever I meet I feel instantly connected you because I know that we share our Judaism (for the most part) and our love for the holy land.
When looking back at the difference between America and Israel a million things come to mind. In my personal opinion, the biggest difference has to do with the behavior of the people. In America when someone accidentally bumps into you or even comes to close you we say sorry. In Israel, they will yell at you to move and say that you were in their way. People here are definitely ruder in the sense that they will tell you like it is. When I was ordering food it took me a minute to realize that the people weren’t mad at me or trying to yell at me, but that Israelis are just naturally loud and screaming is part of a normal conversation.
On the other hand, everybody here treats each other like they are family and its such a small community that almost everybody knows everyone. That is not something common in the states. For example, I was in a taxi last night and the driver rolled down the window to greet someone he knew in another car and that made me feel a sense of family and unity. I haven’t been here for very long but I can already tell that people are all there for each other.
When I realized that I became very proud of my Judaism because of us Jews are told to take care of each other and seeing that in person made me happy.
