Hello again, this blog is about the differences between America and Israel. Stepping out of Ben Gurion, I felt a lot of things, amazement, excitement, lucky, anxious, and a lot bit stressed about my luggage. The aura of an airport wasn’t much different from any American one I’ve been to, if at all.
However, when we got onto the road, I immediately noticed the difference between American and Israeli traffic. The signs, symbols, types of cars, the mannerisms of drivers, and the music on the radio. You see it was weird, Israeli traffic like many things are super similar to America’s, as we drove, I saw signs that were almost identical to American ones, but just were a bit far off. After arriving at the campus, I went to wash my hands, it was then that I started to understand the Israeli strategy for water conservation, the water pressure was crazy strong! I swear every darn sink sprays so hard that my shirt always gets wet.
On that note, I'd like to go over the atmosphere of Israel; it's hot and dry everywhere. My home of Miami, Florida is hot, wet, and rainy very often. However, over the last 3 weeks, it hasn't rained once, and likely won't for another few weeks. I would now like to get to the most obvious difference, the language barrier. Going out in public here is a very strange thing, whatever store you go to, you'll always find someone who can speak English. The people in our nice little town of Hod HaSharon are super kind, well at least most of the ones are that I have dealt with. Everything in Israel is very close to America, but just far enough to completely shake things up in my life.
