So, after being here in Israel for almost 3 weeks now, I have been able to see many differences between Israel and America. Not just the countries, but the people, the food, and the culture.

First of all, because I'm from Miami, the weather aspect is not too different for me. It's really hot everywhere I go. Other than that, the food is something super different. When my friends and I want to go into town, we have at least 5 different falafel options, 3 different schnitzel options, and 3 different shuarma options. That's something you never see in America. It's so cool to have such good tasting food right outside of our school. Not only out of my school but in my school. On-campus we have a small kiosk called ofers. This is great for me because I get really hungry in the middle of the day. They offer a whole selection of snacks, ice coffee, and schnitzel sandwiches. Also, people here are so different.

People always stereotype Israelis as rude, self-absorbed, loud people, and that's just not true. Israelis are really kind people, they aren't afraid to tell you something or help you get your act together. They are also really friendly. You might go to the store and some Israeli might start talking to you, even if you don't know them. It just a whole different mindset to live here. As great as the people here are, the snacks here are even better. They have some creative foods, like dubonim, which is an airy potato chip or like a pizza-flavored wheat snack.

Obviously, there is a much bigger Jewish population here, than there is in America. Which makes it such a different atmosphere. But, because of our religion, the weekend here is on Friday till Saturday, according to Shabbat. While on the other hand, Americans have their weekends on Saturday and Sunday, so that the Christians can go to church. On Fridays, all the stores here close and there are no buses. Even if you personally don't keep Shabbat, being in this country kinda helps you do so.
