Hello, my name is Shlomie Assouline, of Miami, Florida, and I am just embarking on this new journey of doing High School in the ancient but modern land of Israel. This experience is incredibly exciting for a multitude of reasons, the first is that this is my first time in the Jewish homeland. Moreover, it’s my first time being outside of America at all. I also have never even been to a sleep-away camp, so this already stellar experience is completely new to me in every way. So with no real frame of mind except that everyone that’s bee n on it sings AMHSI’s praise endlessly, I hope that a few goals of mine do come true. The first is that I can walk away with a deeper and more worthwhile understanding of Israel’s history, geography, and politics. Moreover, I hope to have a really good education, because I am terrible at math, and this year I am taking Algebra 2 and Chemistry Honors. Furthermore, I hope to grow as a Jew with such enriching experiences like spending Yom Kippur in Jerusalem and spending both Rosh HaShana and Sukkot in Israel. Lastly, but certainly not least, I hope to form meaningful connections with my fellow Fall 2019 Semester students!
