During the four days I have spent here I have learned that I have much to work on as a person and a student. There is always room to improve yourself and there is no better place to do it then here at Alexander Muss High school, where we are in an extremely supportive community.

The first thing I want to work on is being open minded to new opportunities and friendships. Often, the thought of being surrounded in a new environment and new people can be scary. You don’t know what could happen, or you already have an opinion that you wont like it before you try it. I want to be able to do as much as I can while I’m here and make close friendships with others.

I want to change how sometimes I don’t ask for help when I’m struggling, because it always makes it harder to catch up at the last minute. It’s hard to admit when I’m having a tough time with schoolwork, even if I have plenty of helpful resources surrounding me. But I know it will greatly benefit my understanding of each of my classes.

I want to become the person who has a growth mindset. Before I begin actively trying to obtain my goals, I must balance my humility with my ego. Meaning that I can’t believe that I’ll never reach my goals, but I also can’t believe that I’ll immediately succeed with the changes I make. Once I realize the potential I have to thrive, then my goals will be much more acquirable.
