In the mind of any teenager the word school invokes thoughts of rotating between classes every hour to once again sit in a chair and hold a pencil. It’s tedious and overwhelming. Its boring and repetitive. What I have learned thus far on HSI is school is not just that. School is creativity. School is opening new doors to lead us to our own futures. School is exploration. Although I previously didn’t realize that learning can be rewarding, I do so now. Through Alexander Muss and the way this program teaches its students the curriculum has proven to me that learning is wonderful. At Alexander Muss, my idea of schooling has changed completely. Rather sit in a classroom all day, I have found myself sitting in midst of the homes of my ancestors while taking notes. I have found myself exploring ancient ruins and figuring out their significance, all while having the time of my life. Through using Israel as my mobile classroom I have also been able to explore all throughout my beautiful country and see places I otherwise never would have visited. It has been a beautiful, enriching journey thus far.
