I have never felt the need to really dig deeper until I learn about them here.

Going to school here in Israel, has enabled me to learn in such a unique environment that would not be possible back in the United States. Not only are the things we are learning about so different than engraving we would be learning about in school at home, but also the ability for us to be able to visit these sites, that hold so much historical significance is so unique.

Going to school here in Israel, has enabled me to learn in such a unique environment that would not be possible back in the United States. Not only are the things we are learning about so different than engraving we would be learning about in school at home, but also the ability for us to be able to visit these sites, that hold so much historical significance is so unique. A few of my favorite sites we have visited so far have been Masada and Tel Gezer. These were my favorite trips not only because of the fun and challenging hike, but also because of the fascinating history that came along. The first think we did after hiking up Masada, was take a couple minutes to experience the amazing view of the sun rise. Then, we began to learn the amazing historical events that took place on Masada, in the exact spot that we were standing. We spent a few hours walking around Masada, learning about all of the different people, and the actual stories that happened thousands of years ago. Learning in this way is an experience that could never be fulfilled anywhere but here, in Israel. Not only is it fascinating to be able to stand in the exact spots of these famous historical figures in Jewish history, but I could actually feel the energy, and imagine the real people walking around and interacting like we are thousands of years later. I had a similar experience with our trip to Tel Gezer. Not only did I love the hike, but also the amazing story that happened right below the look out, so we were able to actually look at the exact spot that the lesson took place in. The country of Israel is essentially a huge outdoor classroom. Every place we visit has its own historical significance and a lesson that goes along with it. Although in the past, I have learned the basics about Jewish history, I have never felt the need to really dig deeper until I learn about them here. Learning about the Torah in so much detail is something that I never thought I would get the chance to do, let alone actually visit the exact location that they took place in.
