Second week is complete! 14 days in a different country, 14 days with different people, and 14 days with a new perspective on life. I am loving it here in Hod Hasharon, this past week I checked something off my bucket list: the Western Wall, I’ve been waiting to go there for five years. It was such a surreal experience, it’s nothing like I thought it was going to be. We were only there for a short while but it was still an amazing feeling, while I was there I noticed so many different things like how much smaller it was in person, all the people crying and praying. Also how it was separated by gender and the men’s side was larger than the women’s. Also it was freezing! I was wearing four shirts and a jacket and still I was cold but it didn’t matter.
After the Kotel we went to Ben Yehudah street and my friend and I ate at Moshikos and got Shwarma!! Then we started walking around looking for some cute jewelry, we got to this one store and I really wanted this one ring that was so beautiful but it was 150 shekels so we bargained it down to 100 which was pretty cool! Then we went to this ice cream shop where I got a waffle with chocolate sauce with whip cream and bananas!! So good!
Fast forward to Shabbat… we had our first free weekend and my friend and I went to stay with our friend from camp. It was so much fun just to get away for a little bit. Especially the food, we went to her uncle’s house to have Shabbat dinner and it was so nice to have a home cooked meal! Though the whole family was speaking Hebrew and I understood nothing, it was cool to watch them. The next day we went to the beach and it was beautiful! We had French fries and it was so nice out. We went to a movie theater and saw a movie and it was so good, I felt like I was at home. But when we got back on campus and I saw my friends it felt like I haven’t seen them for ages. It was a very exciting week!
