Today, on February 3rd 2019, we went to Gezer for our first tiyul of tiferet. Gezer was home to the Canaanites 4,000 years ago and home to the Israelites 3,000 years ago. We climbed many hills and learned about the people who lived there and what they did and the significance of Gezer and like how it was in the crossroads of two of the greatest trading routes in Israel.

This picture of a ruin was actually built by King Solomon. We were having a very interesting discussion on the pros and cons of living on top of a hill. My opinion was the pros were the protection factor and the cons were they were no water sources near them so the people who lived here had to rely on the rain. This tiyul affecting me very positively because this was our first trip in Israel and it made me very happy exploring this land that I've heard so many biblical and amazing stories about. I take from this tiyul the amazing time I had with all my friends and I will cherish that and the time I had to explore this great place in Israel. This tiyul contributed to my thoughts on Judaism because I learned more about how the Israelites lived and my Judaism grew because of that and just from being in Israel, by Judaism grew as well. What I most enjoyed about this tiyul was hanging out with all my friends and exploring this wonderful place in. - Jacob
