It is a week into my experience on AMHSI. So far it is great. I love the core class because I can get really involved with it and it is interesting. The other general classes have heavy workloads but I expected that. I am surprised that I have gotten so close with people so quickly. I already think of them as brothers.

The first Shabbat was amazing mostly because Shabbat is my favorite part of the week. Other than that the campus is great. There are so many options on where to go in free time and it is not confusing. I can go play basketball in between classes and I love that. As much as I appreciate Israeli food and everything, the food here is good but not as good as genuine Israeli food. But that is okay because on any free period I can sign out with my madrichim and go get good Israeli street food. I can’t do that at home and that is what is so cool about this.

Every day I have made sure I am contacting home to my parents because it is important to let them know how I am doing because I miss them. I am also always face timing or WhatsApping my friends back home because I miss them and I do not what our relationship to weaken or anything. What I find a little weird is that it is really cold and it has been raining a lot. I have worn pants and a raincoat pretty much every day. But in the dorm we have fun and we bond. We play music and dance like crazy. We play this awesome game called spike ball and it is so fun! My roommates are really cool and so fun. Every day we hang out together and just talk about are day. One is named Matt. He always gives me a laugh. Another is named Jacob, Jacob Rush, he is a senior and he is going to Tulane. The last one is named Ian and he is humble yet awesome. He is a great basketball player and always makes me laugh.

In a few weeks my family is coming to visit me on a free Shabbat. I am excited because I will be able to see them and they will be able to experience Israel. On top of that I wish my friends would come too because I miss them like crazy. That is all okay because in April, for Passover break, I am going home to see all my friends and family and I am excited for that. In all, I am really enjoying the wonderful experience I have been granted and I am excited for the next four months.
