Tzfat is in the air

This week we started at a Crusades castle where we took class then we moved to the hot springs which were very interesting… not my favorite thing in the world, definitely not what I expected. I was picturing it in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of rocks and trees and natural but not the case, it was this resort and it was the most unnatural thing I could have thought of! there were so many people there and it was kind of like a resort. On the other hand the water felt really nice but it smelt horrible, like rotten eggs!!
We got to Tzfat and had DOTS and walked around and ate sushi, it was a lot of fun and we also got crepes! The next day we went to the old city of Tzfat and it was beautiful, so artsy and religious and I loved it! We had a lot of free time, it was the perfect place to buy all my gifts for family and friends. After a while we went back to the hotel and got ready for Shabbat. All the girls put on long skirts and it was so fun!! We went to a Kabbalat Shabbat and it was so much fun, I’ve never had that much fun at services before. The girls and boys were separated but I liked it, we were all dancing and singing and it was so spiritual and fun. We didn’t even know the people and they were so welcoming and nice and we all danced in circles and linked arms and jumped, such an amazing time. The next day we were separated into small groups and were given 45 minutes to just walk around and explore Tzfat and we just went down all these alleyways and corners and it was so fun. My favorite part was that we were able to walk in the streets and I didn’t have to worry about cars and everyone was walking around and saying Shabbat shalom to each other, I never felt like I was in a Jewish state until now. Then we were taken to this place we had no idea where we were going and we were walking in this underground tunnel, no idea what we were doing and it was pitch black and all of a sudden we heard a blast of people singing and it was magnificent! we we’re in this underground room and it was big and pitch black except this one small hole at the very very top of the ceiling. People were gathered in there singing and we joined and it was amazing I don’t even know how to describe it I’ve never experienced something like that. This is definitely a point in my life I will never forget, i got to feel so many different things this week, I’ve never felt so connected to myself and my religion.
