Traveling to Poland

Poland is something I will never forget for so many reasons. Poland was not the happiest place to visit of course but very important for me as a Jew. We started off by waking up at 2:30 in the morning and getting on a plane for 5 hours then landing in Warsaw.
The hardest part of the trip for me was Majdanek because everything was still there like nothing happened and right across the street there were buildings and houses which was horrible, people living across from a death camp! The death camp was one of the worst places I’ve been to in my life and it’s horrible to imagine something like that actually happening. By the end of the tour I was a mess, but I had my friends help me get through it which was reliving. Also walking around with the Israeli flag was so empowering, because I was walking in a death camp which it’s soul purpose was to extinguish the Jewish people. And I felt so grateful to be studying and living in a Jewish state.
On the other hand one of my favorite parts of Poland was Krakow, it was so beautiful! Our hotel was in this really pretty square that was the center of everything and we spent Shabbat there and it was so much fun! Out of the whole week in Poland I felt like I was in Europe and not in a concentration camp. Then on Saturday night we went to this huge square filled with shops and food and it was amazing! There were all these little flower booths and cute restaurants, my friends and I went to a cafe and got dessert and it was so good then on our way out there was this guy playing the guitar and singing and then the our whole group came and we all started singing together, then we made a huge circle and all these random people joined and it was so much fun.
