This weekend we went to Jerusalem and spent Shabbat there. We started off by going to Yad Vashem, it was a beautiful museum! The people who designed it put so much thought into it. It was of course very sad walking through it but we had a tour guide and he gave us so much information that I didn’t know which was great since we’re going to Poland this week. After Yad Vashem we went to the shook in Jerusalem and it was so much fun, all the booths and beautiful fruit and vegetables and spices. I had an amazing time there especially on Shabbat and getting to eat so much food . Afterwards we went to our youth hostel that we stayed at the first time we were in Jerusalem, then we got ready for Shabbat and went to the Kotel. It was so much fun on Shabbat, not what I expected; I was thinking it would be very quiet and a bunch of praying but instead it was loud and full of life, we danced and sang with a bunch of strangers and it was amazing!!next we did the funnest thing , we went to these fountains that were all lit up and danced to the music and we all ran through them still in our Shabbat clothes and it was so much fun!!
In core this morning we finished watching Schindler’s list and it was such a great movie but it got me thinking about our trip to Poland. I’m of course really nervous about going to Auschwitz or the other death camps, but it’s very important for me to go as a Jew and getting a deeper understanding of the Holocaust. But I’m also excited to go to Poland, a place I’ve never been to before. I’ve heard a few rumors that the food there is horrible so we all packed dried fruit and other snacks but besides that I’m very excited to explore Poland!
