As my unfathomable trip comes to an end, I am in awe of how much I’ve grown and achieved during my time here at the Alexander Muss High School in Israel. Looking back at the goals that I set at the beginning of this amazing journey, I ponder whether I was able to achieve what I set out to do. Friends: During my time here, although out of my comfort zone, I pushed myself to meet new people in Hope’s of creating friendships that will last a lifetime. My wishes came true as I have so many genuine close friendships which I will hopefully cherish for the rest of my life. People on this program were unbelievably kind and so welcoming to me. I have never felt so at home as I do with these people here at AMHSI. Explore: The many times I’ve been to this stunning country, I have never seen so much, and had so much pride in the Jewish state as I do today. The meaningful trips, engaging history, and breathtaking views all made the explorations around this country unforgettable. Independence: On this trip, I persevered through harsh times in which I was ready to return to my home, and gained a strong sense of independence. I now am significantly more prepared for college which I’ll be attending in two years. Academics: Whether it was having the discipline to stay up past lights out with a flash light studying for an exam, or engaging in a deep discussion of the state of Israel I grew as a student in the past 6 weeks that I’ve stayed here. I worked with diligence, while still having the perfect balance of fun and education. I tremendously impressed myself with the knowledge I’ve gained here, and the academic limits I was pushed to. Identity: Following this program, my Jewish values and identity have never been stronger. We were taught to have such a love for G-d, and to always have pride in the incredible country we call Israel. My identity as a Jewish American with a deep connection and fervid love for the state of Israel will never change thanks to the Alexander Muss High School in Israel. I feel as if I have grown and accomplished in innumerous amounts. I hope to continue shattering goals in my life ahead as I did on this program that will stick with me for a lifetime.
