Happy to be home

After break it was time to head home to the Hod. I walked in the door and up the stairs to be greeted with hugs and smile and lots of love. Now to get my bags up another flight of stairs to see even more smiling faces. It was so nice to meet up with everyone and check in and see how everyone was doing. I missed everyone so much. I took my bags into my room and began to unpack some of my stuff. It felt so good to be in my room again and it was amazing to see all my roomies. Everyone was so tan and had lots of new freckles. The smiles kept coming as more and more people came on campus. It was great but the break was over and we had classes the next day. It started off with core class, then I had an orthopedic appointment where I was told I have tendonitis. Then we had school for another day, which was hard getting back into the swing of things. School was basically over for the week and we headed to Tel Aviv to this little tiny art museum called Joseph Bauls’ house. We got to see his story which is a transition between the holocaust and modern day his art was full of many kinds of symbolism and it was nice to have an uplifting conversation and presentation by his daughter about his life. Then after this, we headed to this place called the Castel where we did lots of team obstacle courses. It was tons of fun and it became a challenge between the classes. It was lots of fun, but it was sweltering hot and very dusty. The dust really bothered my allergies and I couldn’t stop sneezing the entire time we were there. Once we came back to campus, I practiced my flute which made me really happy because I don’t sound like complete shit after not practicing for three months which was a surprise. I also played for Noam which was really hard for me because playing in front of people is one of my biggest fears. While I was playing, all these people came in and listened to me. I could barely make it through the piece, I was so nervous but I did which is a really big accomplishment for me. Then on Friday we headed to the boardwalk in Tel Aviv and Anabell and I walked around and shopped. Then we went and had the best lunch with smoothies, and we even got dessert and it was a blast. Then we all headed to Jaffa where we had Shabbat services in this hotel it was fun we also had a very fun activity that was based around how Israeli kids celebrated their birthdays. We also got to sleep in until noon, and the next day we went to the beach and walked around Jaffa. We also got to observe Yom Hashoa. We walked with our core classes out to the street. The siren went off and everything stopped it was like a pause in time. Everyone got out of there cars and stood absolutely still. You could have heard a pen drop. It was a very nice relaxed day. The week was pretty uneventful but nice and relaxed. Now it’s crunch time because exams are soon.
