I am so thrilled to have this opportunity to be able to experience the journey and land of Israel through AMHSI fellowship. As the trip is creeping closer, I am feeling the anticipation of wanting to instantly step on that plane and for my trip to start. I don’t even know what to expect, each person I hear from each have their own stories and every one is different. I am expecting to meet new people, try new foods and just be put in new situations I couldn’t get here in America. I am more excited than scared, but one thing I fear is keeping up with my schoolwork. Balancing schoolwork and other activities has always been a struggle for me, but I know I will need to keep up with it, so when I come back it isn’t as hard of a transition. What I hope to get out of this trip with HSI is to feel fully part of the Israeli culture and learn the different life of Israelis. I chose to apply for the fellowship because I didn’t want my first experience of Israel to be in the eyes of a tourist, going through HSI gives me the experience to partake in their lifestyle. I chose to do the fellowship because I love giving my opinions on my experiences so talking about my journey through HSI is something I am really looking forward to.
