One of the goals I would like to achieve here is to be more patient.
So, this week has been very hectic for me. It started off with my flight getting canceled, while I’m traveling internationally by myself. I ended up missing the first day on campus, resulting in playing a little catch up. The Madrichim here are strict, but helpful, so I was able to get a small tour and a brief description of the rules. One of the goals I would like to achieve here is to be more patient. After being on a plane for 16 hours, as some can imagine, my mood was not the best. I was so irritated the first day here, and if I had just been patient, then I would now know more about this campus instead of zoning out the whole time. Another goal I have set for myself is to get a 4.0 gpa this semester. This might be challenging with the time-consuming schedule I have laid out in front of me, but I do think it is doable. The teachers here are amazing, they are extremely engaging, which is a crucial characteristic for a teacher whom I can learn from. My core teacher, Doni, is super funny and I can tell I will learn so much about Jewish history from his class. That leads me to my next goal, which is exploring Judaism and understanding its roots. I grew up going to Hebrew and Sunday school, but I never picked up that much information, especially about the history of this religion, and I think this core class is an awesome opportunity to do just that. In my hometown there is only one Temple, being surrounded by people who are Jewish is incredible. I have never lived anywhere like this. Just living in Israel has been one of my life goals, and achieving it is so amazing. I love being here, the weather is so beautiful, and everyone is so nice. Just an example of the kindness shown here, my friends and I went to go get falafel (which is delicious) and the place was cash only, well we didn’t have any cash, the falafel guy told us we could just pay him tomorrow. That would never happen where I live. I am blown away with how kind, helpful, and enthusiastic the service people are and my teachers. I am already falling in love with this country and these people. I can’t wait for what is to come and reaching my goals.
