Israel and America are two totally different places...
Israel and America are two totally different places. I’ve had a pretty hard time adapting to the new Israeli culture. Here are a couple of things that are contrasting from America: The money, cultural aspects, humidity, people, school, views and shopping. To start off It’s been a little hard for me to adjust to the money, it’s really divergent even though it only takes a couple days to get used to, you still have to think more than when you’re America, I guess it’s just not what I’m used to. As for the people, everyone here is so diverse for example as you walk or drive along the roads you see a mix of people like orthodox, conservative, reform Jews. Where I’m from in America many people look the same, not various or really outstanding. For the weather, coming from Florida I’m used to heat and the sun, as I came here in my head I was thinking the weather might be the same. I was very wrong. Israel is extremely humid and always sunny, it’s always good for a beach day!! People in Israel are very friendly and love to start conversation, always asking where you’re from, Israelis seem very interested, In my city a simple wave is what you get at most. Schooling here is probably the most different, in the HSI program I’m much less stressed, I have a fair amount of study time and free time on school days. The views in Israel are incredibly beautiful, there are many mountains unlike Florida the land is flat. The food in Israel is very different than in the United States, food here taste better, and comes in more of an abundance. The language here is hard to catch onto and super different from America, here in Israel people speak Arabic, Hebrew, English and in the US they speak mostly English and Spanish. With all these differences, you can image how big of a change this is. This country is truly diverse and amazing.
