I know that by reaching these goals, along with many others, my time in Israel will be beyond phenomenal.

Spending two weeks in quarantine with not much to do allowed me a sufficient amount of time to think about the goals I want to reach while I am in Israel. To begin with, I definitely want to be able to speak Hebrew by the time I leave. The madrichim have already been very helpful in this. I only speak to them in Hebrew and ask them to do the same. I know that between this and the Hebrew classes that will start in a few weeks, I accomplish this.

Another one of my goals is to meet everyone on a personal level and make lifelong friendships, regardless of the distance of our hometowns. In quarantine, I already met one of my best friends across the plastic and I can tell that it will be a very strong friendship. I know that my case isn’t unique, so if we can bond with someone so closely in two weeks AND through a plastic sheet, one can only imagine the kind of friendships we will make in four months of basically living together. Not only do I want to create connections with the people on this program, but with the people and the land of Israel as well. Unfortunately, due to COVID, meeting locals of Israel may be difficult, but I am confident that I, along with everyone else at AMSHI, will leave Israel with a strong tie to the land. I know that by reaching these goals, along with many others, my time in Israel will be beyond phenomenal.
