The main goal that I am setting for myself for my AMHSI journey is to deeply connect with this land and the people here. Back home I have little to no friends that are Jewish. When first landing in Newark and walking to my gate to board my flight to Tel Aviv, I already felt I was at home. I saw more Hasidic Jews than I had ever seen in my life, and I felt surrounded by my people.

What I’m most excited for is to learn about the issues and different types of relationships Israel has with its neighboring countries. The second main goal that I’m setting for myself is to come out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. I want to talk to that person that sits in the back of the classroom. I want to make an effort to make as many friends as I can and hopefully stay friends with them for life. I also want to see myself trying everything I can. I don't want to say no to anything, I wish to take full advantage of my time here and the amazing people that surround me. So far I haven't had much of a chance to meet my goals because I have been stuck in quarantine. But with 2 days left, I have been preparing myself for what is to come. I also hope to overcome my homesickness and how muss I miss my puppy. But lately I have found ways to deal with this by looking at photos of her or Facetime her. My last goal is to help the other students who are struggling with homesickness more than I am or students that aren't used to being away from home for extended amounts of time. I know I will accomplish these goals because this will ensure that I’m having the best time I can possibly have.
