Today’s tiyul in Sataf made me feel a newfound sense of unity and community. In the natural spring inside the mountain, our core group stood in silence and sang Hinei Matov. Hearing our voices together was so powerful, and I will truly never forget it. Also, being in Jerusalem, while I’ve been there before, was especially emotional and holy.
I thought of my grandfather who has Parkinson’s Disease and would love nothing more than to be able to pray at the wall. I felt him as well as my other Zionist ancestors and the rest of the Jewish community with me at the wall. This feeling was overwhelming, and I felt an abundance of gratitude for my Jewish identity.
