There are many pieces of advice that I could give to a student who is planning to come to Israel. First of all, you can’t forget that you have responsibilities as a student as well as a tourist. Sometimes, you have to miss out on a trip to the beach or a trip into town with friends because you have a test that you need to study for that you didn’t have time to study for while on the tiyul yesterday. That goes with the fact that you have to remember you aren’t just here on vacation, you have to keep up with your schoolwork to make the trips more enjoyable.
Moreover, being a student can mean having to watch how much money you spend and to spend it wisely for you don’t have parents giving you guidance on how much to spend. Furthermore, you have to learn how to separate trips with school work. What I mean is that when you’re on a trip you shouldn’t be thinking about school work, just taking in the beauty of the site and the meaning behind it.
Some other pieces of advice that I could say is to never wash your sheets with your clothes (they will not be the same color) and to keep your side of the room as neat as possible. A major piece of advice would be to always stay organized. It’s hard to go from tiyulim to school and vice versa without missing a homework assignment or not being prepared for a test after 3 days of traveling. As a student especially as an impact fellow it’s easy to get stressed between school responsibilities and tiyul responsibilities like packing for hikes and stuff so my biggest piece of advice would be to take it one day at a time.
