Remembering Elie Wiesel z”l, Honorary Chair at the Alexander Muss High School in Israel

Elie Wiesel taught “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.“

At a time when political correctness underscores existentialism, we are reminded that indeed there are times when there is no room for all to be right and wrong at the same time.

At the Alexander Muss High School in Israel, our staff, alumni and students were fortunate enough to have Mr. Elie Wiesel z”l as Honorary Chair of the world renowned High School in Israel.  Mr. Wiesel stood for values that exemplify love, justice, and compassion for the other.  Mr. Wiesel did not just preach these values, he role modeled them.

At AMHSI our students get to walk in the footsteps of our people from time immemorial giving credence to the principle of “…don’t judge another until you’ve walked a mile in his/her shoes…”, our students walk hundreds of miles in the shoes of others.

A survivor of the Auschwitz and Buchenwald Nazi death camps, Wiesel dedicated much of his life to Holocaust education and promoting tolerance around the world.  We honor Mr. Elie Wiesel’s leadership, role modeling, and his life by ensuring that our students learn, experience and transmit the lessons of history for the betterment of society – For at some point one must take a stand, a stand for something.

Ye’hi Zichro Baruch – May his memory be for a blessing
