Weekly Update, Jan. 4 – 8
Our campus was very quiet last week as we’re just about between sessions. Spring semester, February session, and Milken and JDS, and other programs will all be arriving soon!
Last week, at AMHSI…
BJE spent their final 3 days of their summer trip with a cold, rainy visit up north to the Golan where they hiked the Jilaboun in the morning and the Banias in the afternoon, before studying the 6-Day and Yom Kippur wars, They went to Kibbutz Misgav Am to see the Lebanese border and learned about Gamla, the Masada of the north. Their final day was spent in Jerusalem as their teachers brought closure to their amazing trip.
December session students spent this week learning about the Holocaust, a week the Israel core teachers call HaShoa Le’Tkuma, “From destruction (Holocaust) to rebirth.” They went to Yad V’Shem, the Israeli memorial and museum. Later in the week, they learned about the fight to establish Israel. They went to the British prison camp, Atlit and the Akko prison before heading to see the beauty of the Rosh Hanikra grottoes. They then spent the weekend in Jerusalem.
