AMHSI Spring Semester 2014 – Negev Campus
AMHSI radio station
Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI) has built its very own student radio station and music recording space on its campus in Hod Hasharon! Students can take a Radio 101 course or use the radio station for recording songs, interviews and other projects. Students can also have the opportunity to speak with and interview diplomats, artists, politicians, donors, teachers and other distinguished individuals that visit the AMHSI campus!

Radio 101 course
The course consists of a hands-on curriculum that incorporates research and interviewing skills, choosing topics for podcasts, technical instruction on audio editing software, preparing a show inventory taking into account production considerations, and field recordings.

Course syllabus:
Class: INTRODUCTION TO RADIO, February 2015 Session
Course Goals: This course aims to provide a basic understanding of radio, its’ history and its present state. This course also acquaints students with basic radio broadcasting, technical and editing skills. A series of exercises will also provide “hands on” experience with radio equipment.
Lesson Dates/Times:
Typically, once a week from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Assignments:
- Song cross
- Song cross with intro and outro
- Story editing (in class assignment)
- 10 minute show segment
-Intro jingle
-2 songs at most with a cross
-1 recorded segment
-1 live interview

Submit half a page to one-page paper answering the question of what drew you to radio and what you’ve learned / positive and negative experiences with the hands-on work.
